Fourth Graders have their voices heard

Meridian Public Schools Fourth Graders recently attended a County Commissioners meeting to suggest improvements to Sanford Lake Park. "For our social studies project, we taught the kids about government and I contacted Chairman Mark Bone asking if we could take a public issue and present it to the board. I want to thank you for making this authentic for them. It's really cool for them to see that when people want a change in their community, they can present something like this." -Ann Wittbrodt, 4th grade teacher.

Students had many suggestions that were taken to the board and the commissioners were not only listening intently, but Midland County Parks and Recreation Director John Schmude sat in the crowd taking copious notes.
