MECHS Update

October 26, 2020

Dear Learners and Families,

COVID-19 UPDATE

Thank you for your continued efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19. It is important that families and students continue to complete the self screening and remain home when ill.  If you are sick, PLEASE STAY HOME. Proper mask wear, hygiene, and physical distancing continue to be our best defense. We must work together to stay safe and remain in school until June!

It is important that you review with your child the importance of the following COVID-19 safety procedures. You can review the COVID-19 Safety Slide deck HERE. Beginning Wednesday, October 28, learners will begin helping staff with the sanitization of tables between classes. Staff will spray the EPA approved cleaner, SDS 117,  and the student will wipe down the desk. Although this specific product does not require the use of protective wear, gloves are available for student use if desired.

LEARNING AT HOME:

We must be prepared for illness and other COVID-19 absences. MECHS classes are available via livestream through Zoom for learners remaining at home for COVID-related issues. Students can simply log on to their ECHO agenda and the link is available to access the course through livestream.

IF a LEARNER has a COVID-19 absence AND feels well enough to complete work, learners are expected to do the following actions:

  1. Check ECHO daily.

  2. Attend classes virtually through Zoom link in ECHO agenda.

  3. Complete and submit ECHO assignments.

  4. Email instructor for support or request an office hour.

  5. Attendance and work completion is mandatory in alignment with the face-to-face course expectations (as long as the learner feels well enough to complete the work).

In the event of a whole class closure/building closure:

  1. Learning will transition into a virtual format immediately following the closure using this schedule HERE.

  2. Attendance and work completion is mandatory in alignment with the face-to-face course expectations.

  3. Participation in virtual zoom live sessions are required by this class schedule HERE.

    1. School calendar breaks/vacation calendar will be followed

  4. Grading timelines apply.
