Dear MECHS Learners and Families,
2nd Semester learning is in full swing! As we move through February, we have several pieces of information to share with your family.
MECHS values insight from families to help improve our practices and provide a high quality, individualized learning experience. PLEASE consider taking 20 minutes to complete the MECHS family survey: https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4617922/School-Climate-Assessment-Instrument-for-Parents-and-Community-Members?ID=0018000000pYfL4AAK
Faculty and staff are available to support your family. Need to reach out to faculty directly? Consider an email or phone call with questions or concerns. You can find a list of faculty phone numbers and email addresses here: tinyurl.com/mechsstaff
It’s hard to believe, but the 21-22 school scheduling process is underway!!!
Scheduling sheets, with course options, will be going home with your child.
MECHS prides itself on the number of opportunities available to our learners. Visit https://www.merps.org/o/early-college-high-school/page/academics--137 to view curriculum offerings, graduation requirements, and other important MECHS academic information. Scheduling request forms are due by March 5, 2021 to the MECHS Office.

MECHS CULTURE of KINDNESS:
MECHS understands the importance of wellbeing. Together, SADD and MECHS Leadership class have monthly themes to support the emotional health of our school community. February is the month to focus on healthy relationships. On Wednesday, Feb. 17th (which is also Random Acts of Kindness Day!) MECHS encourages everyone to wear red to remind us to consider our friendships. Surround yourself with friends that help you make good choices and make you feel good about yourself.

Participation in the Academic Tutoring Center has dropped dramatically. Waiting until the end of the semester to complete missing work or get help with classes increases the risk of academic failure and can negatively impact grades. The Academic Tutoring Center is staffed by faculty to support your academic needs. From finishing an assignment or gaining more knowledge about a subject, PLEASE consider attending this free service!!!
Academic Tutoring Center is OPEN to ALL 9-12th grade MECHS students at NO COST.
Faculty tutors are available Tuesday-Thursday from 3:10-4:30PM
After school snacks AND transportation are provided
Location: MECHS Commons
Thank you for continuing to do your part to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Despite the presence of COVID-19 in the community, MECHS has seen zero (0) cases of COVID-19 from school transmission to date. It remains critical that we adhere to COVID-19 protocols to ensure face-to-face learning can continue to occur safely.
Please remember to keep your child HOME if they are experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms OR if they have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 OR someone in the household is awaiting COVID results.
LEARNERS MUST STAY HOME IF:
SOMEONE WITHIN THE HOUSEHOLD IS EXPERIENCING COVID-19 SYMPTOMS
SOMEONE WITHIN THE HOUSEHOLD IS AWAITING COVID-19 TEST RESULTS
EXPERIENCING COVID-19 SYMPTOMS THEMSELVES
If you have symptoms of illness, PLEASE stay home! Make the Mustang Promise to screen for symptoms DAILY! Visit www.merps.org/covid19 for more information. Learners that remain home due to illness concerns, but feel well enough to work, are encouraged to attend MECHS classes via Zoom. Zoom links can be found in course ECHO agendas.
A strong learner-family-school partnership is critical to creating an environment of success for your child. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with additional questions or concerns: firstname.lastname@example.org or 989.687.3300. Thank you for your continued support.
