Fall of 2016 marked the inaugural season for the MJHS Robotics Team. Seventh and eighth grade First Tech Challenge teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge.
On Saturday, November 12th, the MJHS Robotics Team competed in their regional qualifier event at Bullock Creek High School. The team overcame many obstacles throughout the day including software malfunctions and complete breakdowns of robot systems. The robot even tipped over twice in the final match. Despite these setbacks, the team pulled together to win 3 of 5 matches, and they finished 17th out of 35 teams in the first ever competition for an MJHS team. A great end to a great season.
Student Council is open to 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Members are student leaders who have a variety of responsibilities and are involved with several activities.

Several seventh and eighth graders at Meridian Jr. High School act as student mentors. Student mentors are heavily involved with Fifth Grade and New Student Orientation before the school year starts to help welcome all of our new students to MJHS. Student mentors also work with our fifth graders throughout the school year to help them feel comfortable in middle school.
