This week, we are proud to celebrate Public Schools Week (February 23–27, 2026)!
Last week, we joined fellow public school districts across Midland County to accept a proclamation from the Midland County Board of Commissioners officially designating this week as Public Schools Week. This celebration aligns with the Learning First Alliance’s National Public Schools Week, recognizing the positive impact of public education and the strong partnerships between schools, families, and our community.
The proclamation was submitted in partnership with Academic & Career Education Academy, Bullock Creek School District, Coleman School District, Midland County Educational Service Agency, Windover High School, and Midland Public Schools.
We are grateful to our partners and friends at Midland County, Michigan, for recognizing Public Schools Week and for their continued support of our districts and community.
Public schools are proud to serve as economic drivers, major employers, community partners , and most importantly, places where thousands of Meridian students learn, grow, and feel they belong.
Thank you to the Mustang school community for allowing us to serve you! 💙🐴 #ReachHigher #MustangsTHRIVE

At Meridian Public Schools, Mustang safety comes first. We are sharing this reminder because we have observed several unsafe situations during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Even one close call is too many.
👉 Please review the drop-off and pick-up maps included in this post.
These maps show the safest traffic patterns for Meridian Elementary and Meridian Junior High and help:
• Keep Mustangs out of moving traffic
• Reduce congestion
• Prevent unsafe crossings
Please help us protect our Mustangs by:
✔️ Driving attentively and following posted speed limits
✔️ Avoiding double parking
✔️ Being patient during busy arrival and dismissal times
✔️ Following the designated routes shown in the maps
Thank you for being part of our Mustang community and for helping ensure every student arrives and leaves school safely. #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs

The first week in February is designated as National School Counseling Week, and we proudly celebrate and thank two incredible counselors who make a lasting impact every single day at Meridian Public Schools.
Carrie Barriger, MJHS Counselor, and Shannon Tigner, MECHS Counselor, go above and beyond to support our students in every way imaginable. From nurturing students' social and emotional wellbeing, guiding them through state test preparation, and helping them plan for future careers and postsecondary success, their dedication understands the whole child.
More than anything, Carrie and Shannon are committed to helping students grow into confident, capable, and compassionate individuals — preparing them not just for school, but for life. We are so grateful for their hard work, the compassion they put into their work, and the commitment to our students and families. 💙 Thank you for all that you do for Meridian! #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs
