📢 Important Update for Mustang Families! 🐴
Michigan has updated the process for obtaining youth employment permits. Work permits are now processed through the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) Youth Employment Permit Portal rather than through local schools.
What You Need to Know:
New Online Process: Students and families will use the new portal to request work permits; schools will no longer issue them directly.
Current Permits Valid: Work permits issued before October 2 remain valid until the student turns 18 or graduates.
Changing Jobs: Students switching employers will need to apply for a new permit through the online portal.
Employment Laws: All existing youth employment laws, requirements, and safety protections remain the same.

Good Morning Mustangs! Please see the important message below regarding the parade route for Friday afternoon!
REMINDER - Parade lineup is from 4-4:30PM. All participants need to be in place by 4:30PM at Porte Park in Downtown Sanford. There is a drop off lane for participants, but no parking on site. Please plan to drop and go, or park elsewhere and walk to the park. Only vehicles that are in the parade will be allowed to park at their designated, numbered space, as provided at entry. The parade starts at 5:00 and ends on Lynn Street.
***NOTE*** All Meridian Youth Football and Cheer participants will end at the old Railside Restaurant parking lot due to parking limitations at St. Paul Lutheran Church. This parking lot will be blocked off for parade vehicles only so that the youth teams can safely unload here. There will be no parking or seating available in this driveway for parade viewers so the parade vehicles can enter this lot.

On November 3, 2026, Meridian voters will consider a $13.95 million bond proposal with a ZERO tax rate increase over the current levy. After listening to community feedback, the district revised the proposal to focus exclusively on essential infrastructure updates:

🌡️ HVAC, Ventilation, and Septic System replacements
🔒 Security System Enhancements & updated building controls
By prioritizing these critical needs now, we can protect our general operating budget and keep classroom funds focused directly on our students!
