Meridian Junior High Teacher, Melissa Ziems, created a project this year based on the 2020 dam failures in Sanford for her creative writing class, challenging them to create fantasy stories about what happened to the dam. "I had one student who said, 'I really was not looking forward to this, but I actually really enjoyed it,'" Ziems said. "As a teacher, that is the most wonderful thing you can hear." Check out this article from the Midland Daily News about the project: https://www.ourmidland.com/news/article/sanford-flood-focus-students-writing-meridian-jr-18173689.php?utm_campaign=CMS%20Sharing%20Tools%20(Premium)&utm_source=share-by-email&utm_medium=email #ReachHigher
