Half Day 4/13 - No School 4/16
Meridian teachers have begun to utilize proficiency scales - a tool that clearly outlines a learning goal and describes a progression of knowledge and skills related to that goal, typically across four levels of performance. By using proficiency scales, teachers can provide clear expectations, targeted instruction, and meaningful feedback. Students benefit because they always know what success looks like and can track their own growth step by step.

🐎💙 Mustang Safety Reminder: Drop-Off & Pick-Up 💙🐎

At Meridian Public Schools, Mustang safety comes first. We are sharing this reminder because we have observed several unsafe situations during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Even one close call is too many.

👉 Please review the drop-off and pick-up maps included in this post.
These maps show the safest traffic patterns for Meridian Elementary and Meridian Junior High and help:
• Keep Mustangs out of moving traffic
• Reduce congestion
• Prevent unsafe crossings

Please help us protect our Mustangs by:
✔️ Driving attentively and following posted speed limits
✔️ Avoiding double parking
✔️ Being patient during busy arrival and dismissal times
✔️ Following the designated routes shown in the maps

Thank you for being part of our Mustang community and for helping ensure every student arrives and leaves school safely. #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs

Celebrating National School Counseling Week! 🎉

The first week in February is designated as National School Counseling Week, and we proudly celebrate and thank two incredible counselors who make a lasting impact every single day at Meridian Public Schools.

Carrie Barriger, MJHS Counselor, and Shannon Tigner, MECHS Counselor, go above and beyond to support our students in every way imaginable. From nurturing students' social and emotional wellbeing, guiding them through state test preparation, and helping them plan for future careers and postsecondary success, their dedication understands the whole child.

More than anything, Carrie and Shannon are committed to helping students grow into confident, capable, and compassionate individuals — preparing them not just for school, but for life. We are so grateful for their hard work, the compassion they put into their work, and the commitment to our students and families. 💙 Thank you for all that you do for Meridian! #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs

There's just something about a nice bowl of soup on a cold winter day, and that is just what our students at MECHS had yesterday! Thanks to our culinary wizards Jennifer, Eve, Teresa, Betty, and Curry, students at MECHS enjoyed a childhood favorite lunch featuring homemade chicken noodle soup, a ham & cheese sandwich on a toasted pretzel bun, and fresh strawberries on the side. Sending a huge shoutout to our amazing kitchen staff, who work hard every day to make sure our kiddos are fed delicious, and nutritious meals made with care. This soul-warming lunch was just what everyone needed to stay fueled for an afternoon of learning! Thanks ladies! #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs

Ms. Glann and a group of fellow frozen solid educators spent chilly Saturday at Forest Hill Nature Area exploring outdoor inquiry and new tech tools to bring learning outside. Led by the nature area’s director, they walked a trail and used devices to observe the winter world: trees "popping," animal tracks in the snow, listening to sounds in nature, and even searching for hidden bugs. Teachers took on the role of the student, asking their own questions and reflecting on student experiences. Once back inside from the "it's so cold you can't feel your face degrees outside weather", they brainstormed ways to use the tech in their classrooms and design authentic outdoor learning experiences that spark student curiosity. Did you know that Michigan's state fossil is the mastodon? Ms. Glann is holding a fossilized mastodon femur! Talk about a fun opportunity! #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs
