STEM@SVSU and the GLBR East Chief Science Officers are excited to offer a FREE Teen Science Café on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Teen Science Café events allow teens and STEM professionals to engage in meaningful conversations and explore advances in science and technology. This event is open to any student in 6th - 12th grade in the Great Lakes Bay Region (Arenac, Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Midland, Saginaw counties), as well as Huron and Tuscola counties. Teen Science Cafés are always Free, Fun, and have Food! Pizza will be provided for dinner. 🚨 Early Dismissal Alert for March 18, 2025 🚨 We are excited to announce that for the first time in school history, our Meridian Early College High School Girls Basketball Team has advanced to the MHSAA State Quarterfinals! 🐎💪 The game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 18th at 7:00 pm verses Calumet High School and will be played in Manistique at Manistique High School. Due to the significant travel distance and the overwhelming interest in supporting our Lady Mustangs, we will be dismissing all K-12 students early. 🗓 Date: Tuesday, March 18, 2025 🕒 Early Dismissal Time: 1:30 PM 🚌 For those utilizing school transportation, buses will depart at the adjusted dismissal time. Please make necessary arrangements for your child’s early pickup. Please note that this schedule adjustment is solely for K-12 programs. 🚧 Traffic Update from MDOT: M-30 Bridge Reconstruction Over US-10 🚧 Starting Monday, March 17th, 2025, the M-30 bridge over US-10 will be closed for reconstruction until mid-August, as announced by MDOT. Please note the important detour and traffic changes: 🛑 Initial Closure & Detour Info: M-30 Bridge Closure: Begins at 7:00 AM on March 17th for the entire project duration. Southbound M-30 Detour: Traffic will be rerouted via westbound US-10 to West River Road, then eastbound on US-10 back to M-30. Northbound M-30 Detour: Follow eastbound US-10 to Stark Road, then westbound on US-10 back to M-30. 🌙 Nightly Closures on US-10 (March 18th - March 21st): March 18th - 21st: Expect nightly closures from 7:00 PM - 6:00 AM. 🚜 Construction Update: After initial demolition, expect ongoing single lane closures on both directions of US-10 as we build a new bridge. 🚌 For Meridian School Commuters: Plan your travel in advance and allow extra time for detours. MECHS would like to send a shoutout to students Levi Willette and Bruce Reed who participated in, and WON, the 2024 Congressional App Challenge in Michigan's Second District! Through their Cybersecurity class at the Bay Arenac ISD Career Center, they created an app called Security Operations (see attached photos from their app). When asked what inspired the creation of Security Operations, the students said, “Countless individuals own personal devices and operate them daily. Such individuals don’t understand the risks among the internet which may jeopardize personal information depending on the situation. As a result of this issue, Security Operations was particularly constructed to inform, remind and shine a light on the necessity for personal and organizational security online.” Bruce and Levi will travel to Washinton DC to showcase their app to Congress at the #HouseofCode Festival later this year. Good morning, Mustangs! Please be aware that a fallen tree is currently blocking Barden Rd., the entrance to the Auditorium Parking Lot, making it impassable. Our Maintenance Department is working to remove it, but the road may not be fully cleared before the start of school. This does not impact our main entrances on M-30. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we prioritize everyone's safety during the morning commute. Have a great day!
