To honor the dedication, tenacity, and contributions of Meridian Early College High School faculty, it takes great pleasure to announce the MECHS Teacher of the Year, Mr. J. Cole.
Mr. Cole is an Engineering instructor and technology director at MECHS. He also serves in various coaching and support capacities. Mr. Cole is a strong supporter of Meridian Public Schools and our local community. Mr. Cole was nominated by several MECHS students, "J really makes everyone feel heard. He has a clear respect for us as students and listens to our ideas, wants, and needs. J makes us feel like we are equals, he never talks down to us or acts like something is too much for us to handle. He goes above and beyond for his students and clearly enjoys his job. All of these qualities that J possess cause students to work harder and achieve more because we wouldn't want to let him down after he does so much for us. "
Another learner echoed, "J Cole is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. He cares about each student and would always go out of his way to have a conversation with each of us every day. He is very kind and tries hard to engage the students. He always has a positive attitude about things."
