MECHS Welcomes New Principal

Dear MECHS Families, Staff, and Community Members,

Meridian Early College has a new leader. Meridian Board of Education approved the hiring of Mr. Scott LaFever to serve as the next Principal of Meridian Early College High School. He will begin this position on July 1. 

Since 2014, Mr. LaFever has served in a variety of roles at Meridian Public Schools, including special and general education teacher, instructional coach, and athletic coach. He possesses a Masters Degree in Teaching from Saginaw Valley State University. Mr. LaFever is currently a member of the MASA Horizon Leadership Academy, where he will complete his school Administration Certificate with Central Office Endorsement in December. 

"I look forward to the opportunity to lead and inspire an extremely knowledgeable and supportive staff, " LaFever states. "Together we will embrace the challenge of providing a more equitable education for all stakeholders in our district. We will continue to grow our practices to promote deeper learning outcomes so that all learners are actively working toward their “next steps.”

Mr. LaFever enjoys spending time with his growing family, including his wife, Katie, and athree children, Josie (4), Beau (2), and a new baby, Weston. He shares a passion for traveling and recreating outdoors. 

Mr. LaFever will greet families during the upcoming MECHS Welcome Back Night on August 23,  hosting an introductory meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Commons for interested families.  "I look forward to growing and maintaining relationships with all members of our school community," LaFever said.
