Meridian hosted the Michigan Early Middle College Association Spring Leadership Conference today. Early and Middle schools from across the state presented call to action projects on their selected environmental sustainability topics. In the afternoon, participants worked to get the Sanford Community garden ready for spring planting. At MECHS, we provide a professional learning environment where students are empowered to be active in community affairs and enabled to positively contribute to society.

At MECHS, we engage students to collaborate on real-world and personally meaningful projects that require critical thinking, creativity and collaboration in order to answer challenging questions. On Tuesday, April 19, MECHS had 18 teams compete in the MDOT Bridge (Trac) competition. Learners became engineers as they had to present their bridges tested based on their strength-to-weight ratio and formally showcase their findings. Congratulations to Josh Brawt, Kailee Charette, and Kaitlyn Eshelman for their 4th place win in the 9th & 10th grade division.
