🎉 This Week We Celebrate Public Schools Week! 🎉
This week, we are proud to celebrate Public Schools Week (February 23–27, 2026)!

Last week, we joined fellow public school districts across Midland County to accept a proclamation from the Midland County Board of Commissioners officially designating this week as Public Schools Week. This celebration aligns with the Learning First Alliance’s National Public Schools Week, recognizing the positive impact of public education and the strong partnerships between schools, families, and our community.

The proclamation was submitted in partnership with Academic & Career Education Academy, Bullock Creek School District, Coleman School District, Midland County Educational Service Agency, Windover High School, and Midland Public Schools.

We are grateful to our partners and friends at Midland County, Michigan, for recognizing Public Schools Week and for their continued support of our districts and community.

Public schools are proud to serve as economic drivers, major employers, community partners , and most importantly, places where thousands of Meridian students learn, grow, and feel they belong.

Thank you to the Mustang school community for allowing us to serve you! 💙🐴 #ReachHigher #MustangsTHRIVE

Our next group of athletes from this weekend were the wrestlers! The Meridian wrestling team qualified 4 wrestlers out of 7 for the MSHAA State finals at Ford Field March 6-7. The Mustangs were led by Karson Yancer who claimed the 150# Regional Championship with a decisive 10-1 win in the finals over Jaxon Ziegler of Ogemaw Heights in the finals. "Karson was dominant today." Stated Coach Jeremy Sampson. "He had two pins and a major decision on his way to the championship, he has set himself up for a nice run at States in a few weeks." Yancer is now 51-3 on the season.

Austin Bourassa placed 2nd at 190# losing 8-3 in the championship match. "Austin is the real deal. He had a 49 match win streak snapped in the finals, but he wrestled well and will have an excellent chance of wrestling for a title at States." Coach Sampson said. Austin stands at 52-2 on the season.
Cooper Walser finished 3rd at 285 again coming through a stacked bracket to qualify for states for the first time. "Cooper defeated both of the District finalist from the other side of the region today. He has really wrestled well the last few weeks and it's exciting to see." Sampson said. Cooper is now 49-11 on the season.

Rounding out the Qualifiers for Meridian was Brodie Pierce who placed 4th at 132#. "Brodie had to work hard today, he needed to win his first match to set him self up for a trip to Ford Field and he did by major decisioning an opponent from Grayling that defeated him earlier in the season." Sampson added. "He has come a long way this season." Pierce improved to 45-9 on the year.

Meridian's other regional qualifiers were: Memphis Nelson 113, Steven Davis 126, and Scottie Garrison 190, they all failed to advance to states, but represented the school and the team very well.

Congratulations, Mustangs! #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs #GoBlue
