MECHS would like to send a shoutout to students Levi Willette and Bruce Reed who participated in, and WON, the 2024 Congressional App Challenge in Michigan's Second District! Through their Cybersecurity class at the Bay Arenac ISD Career Center, they created an app called Security Operations (see attached photos from their app). When asked what inspired the creation of Security Operations, the students said, “Countless individuals own personal devices and operate them daily. Such individuals don’t understand the risks among the internet which may jeopardize personal information depending on the situation. As a result of this issue, Security Operations was particularly constructed to inform, remind and shine a light on the necessity for personal and organizational security online.” Bruce and Levi will travel to Washinton DC to showcase their app to Congress at the #HouseofCode Festival later this year. Congratulations Levi and Bruce! #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs Check out the full article here: https://www.congressionalappchallenge.us/24-MI02/

MERPS would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the ROCK Center for Youth Development and the Discover You Program for an inspiring evening. We are especially proud of MECHS student Elijah Harris, who delivered an incredible speech at the event on the value of mentorship.
