’Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the school,
Not a creature was stirring—no students or staff in sight.
The lockers stood silent, the hallways were clear,
No bells were a-ringing, no backpacks were near.
The classrooms lay waiting, lights dimmed nice and low,
With visions of Christmas and cocoa to go.
Whiteboards were spotless, the Chromebooks asleep,
Even homework took a much-needed sleep.
The Mustangs all rested, the school staff at ease,
After weeks full of learning and holiday cheer.
Bus drivers had parked for a well-earned break,
No routes to be driven till the new year's mornings awake.
Food service had cleaned every pan, tray, and plate,
No trays to carry, no lunch line to stand—see you in January, just as planned!
Custodians shined every floor, hall, and stair,
So the school gleamed with pride and care.
Secretaries typed their last email just right,
While tech staff repaired devices just right.
The superintendent checked calendars twice,
And wished everyone rest—and weather quite nice.
So here’s to the Mustangs, calm, quiet, and bright,
As they dream of returning when the time is just right.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
Merry Christmas Eve, Mustangs! 💚❤️🎄 #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs

Last Friday, the BioLit classes at MECHS presented their Community Health Improvement Plans (C.H.I.P.) to a panel of staff, Superintendent Glann, Principal Mr. LaFever, Counselor, Mrs. Tigner, Director of Technology & Auditorium Services, Mr. Kent, and a community agency partner, Brent Mikkola – Community Health Manager, from MyMichigan Health, along with student representative Keegan Shephard. Throughout the project, students learned to use various skillsets from data analyzation, problem solving, storytelling through various data points conducted with the MECHS student input survey and the MyMichigan Community Input Survey, as well as public speaking and presentation design.
MECHS BioLit instructors Mary Connell and Morgan Glann said, “Students worked together throughout the C.H.I.P. project in teams to take a look at some of the issues that are affecting the Sanford community, and how they might make an impact on those issues with creative, new ideas.” Students learned how to analyze data with Superintendent Sarah Glann during a class session and then practiced driving their ideas down to one main, focus area with mini presentations in class to Superintendent Glann, Principal Mr. LaFever, Counselor, Mrs. Tigner, and Instructional Coach, Mrs. Sanders.
Once each group gave their presentations, students in each class hour had the chance to vote on their favorite five presentations to be given to the panel on Friday. These 10 teams then worked hard to polish up their presentations and prepare to tell us why their idea can help the Sanford community. The panel on Friday gave students feedback and questions to each group about their ideas, and how they can help the community. Meridian Public Schools would like to thank MyMichigan Health for being a continued partner in education! #ReachHigher #MeridianMustangs
